I do like this one better! More focus on the girl and the beast. The birdguy was sorta distracting.

Ah, this feels much better to the eye. Even though there's a "blank" space there where the bird guy was, your eye is still drawn to the girl well enough. That empty space has a somewhat foreboding feel to it.

The "empty" space isn't distracting at all, actually. It just looks like a natural part of the scenery.
